The Bloody Beetroots es un proyecto formado por Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo que ha marcado una pauta en la escena internacional. Un sonido fresco y atrevido originario de Italia ha invadido las pistas de baile de todo el mundo. Colaboraciones con artistas de la talla de Paul McCartney, Steve Aoki y muchos más lo han posicionado como una de las propuestas más valiosas en la escena.

Cinco largos años han pasado desde la primera vez que se canceló su presentación en la Ciudad de México. Sin embargo, en unos cuantos días los podremos ver en el Electronic Daisy Carnival.

Aquí les dejamos la entrevista exclusiva que el equipo de Be Tronic realizó a The Bloody Beetroots:

1. ¿Cómo describirías la evolución de tu carrera y qué dificultades has encontrado en tu camino?

En los términos de mi música, la evolución ha sido un tema crucial. Se ha desarrollado inextricablemente con la evolución de mi vida. He sido influenciado por nuevos géneros musicales y esto me ha ayudado a crecer culturalmente y a un nivel personal. Todo está conectado.

2. ¿Qué piensas acerca de la escena electrónica conocida hoy como EDM? ¿Te afecta o beneficia?

Nunca he sentido ningún tipo de ansiedad o expectativas con mi música, sin embargo, sí me siento de alguna forma decepcionado con la forma en la que la industria musical se ha aprovechado de la escena electrónica. Ahora, concentro todo mi esfuerzo en restaurar la dignidad y la verdadera forma del género para que no perdamos de vista la razón por la que hacemos todo esto.

3. ¿Qué te dio la idea de trabajar con Paul McCartney? Musicalmente hablando, están en polos opuestos. ¿Surgieron dificultades? ¿Cómo las resolvieron?

En realidad, la colaboración se produjo por un amigo en común con el que estaba trabajando en el estudio. Me preguntó con quién me gustaría trabajar y yo dije Paul McCartney. El resto es historia. Las diferentes energías que se reúnen en una habitación cuando dos personas colaboran es lo que hace a la música tan especial. Es lo que hace a una canción destacar. No hay nada que resolver.

4. Has explicado varias veces por qué usas máscaras, sin embargo no has dicho por qué elegiste Venom y no Spiderman. ¿Te sientes identificado con el chico malo?

Está inspirada en el hombre araña, pero en realidad es la máscara de The Bloody Beetroots. El tamaño y la tecnología de los ojos es totalmente único en mi máscara. Yo soy el tipo más malo allá afuera.

5. Has trabajado con artistas como Paul McCartney, Tommy Lee, Dennis Lyxzén, Steve Aoki y algunos más. ¿Con quién más te gustaría colaborar en el futuro?

He colaborado con varios artistas en el nuevo álbum. Colaborar con Paul McCartney realmente era mi sueño y ¡ahora lo he cumplido!

6. Recordamos muy bien el 2009 cuando anunciaron por primera vez la presentación de The Bloody Beetroots en México en el extinto «Zoon Night Club», sin embargo un brote de influenza causó su cancelación. Más tarde, en el año 2012 The Bloody Beetroots estaba anunciado en el flyer del Nevada Fest que también fue cancelado unos días después. Hoy por fin te vemos en el line-up del EDC México y realmente estamos muy emocionados.

Sí, esperemos que esta vez todo se desarrolle sin problemas y yo sea capaz de dar un maravilloso show para mis fans en México.

7. ¿Qué esperas de los fans mexicanos? ¡Te han estado esperando 5 largos años!

Definitivamente es una larga espera. Espero caos y confusión, así como seguramente ustedes esperan de mi.

8. En el vídeo All The Girls nos mostraste tu amor por la fotografía y las mujeres. Eso no es ningún secreto. ¿Podremos ver próximamente alguna galería con tu trabajo fotográfico o algo más de tu lado artístico?

Por supuesto, estudié en la escuela de arte y los dos temas que realmente me dieron forma fueron la fotografía y el dibujo de la vida. Mi proyecto fotográfico se llama Black Sheep y siempre estaré explorando eso mientras pueda.

9. ¿Qué vamos a ver o escuchar este 2014 de The Bloody Beetroots?

En febrero 14 lanzaré el estreno del vídeo para mi nuevo sencillo: Raw  con Tommy Lee. Fue dirigido por Agata Alexander. También he revisado mi LIVE show y lo he transformado completamente agregando y arreglando nuevos temas. De igual forma, estoy iniciando el SBCR DJ Set.

Exclusive Interview with The Bloody Beetroots

The Bloody Beetroots is a project formed by Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo that has set a new standard in the international scene. A fresh and daring sound originated in Italy invaded the dance floors worldwide. Collaborations with international stars such as Paul McCartney and Steve Aoki have positioned this project as one of the most valuable on the scene.

Five long years have passed since the first gig was canceled in Mexico City. Today we are just days apart from EDC México and we are pleased to see him announced together with his live act.

Here it is! Our exclusive interview with The Bloody Beetroots. Enjoy!

1. How would you describe this evolution in your career and what difficulties have you found on your way?

In terms of my music, evolution has been crucial. It has developed inextricably with the evolution of my life. I have been influenced by new musical genres and this has helped me grow culturally and on a personal level, it’s all connected.
2. What do you think about the electronic scene, today known as EDM? Does it affect or benefit you?

I have never felt any anxiety or expectation with my music but I do feel a sense of disappointment with how the electronic scene has been taken advantage of by the music industry. My efforts now are to restore the dignity and the true form of the genre, so we don’t lose sight of why we all do this.

3. What gave you the idea of working with Paul McCartney? Musically speaking, you are opposite poles. Did difficulties emerged? How did you solve them?

The collaboration actually came about because of a mutual friend who I was in the studio with. He asked me who I would want to collaborate with and I said Paul McCartney, and the rest is history. The different energies in the room when two people collaborate are what makes the music unique, its what makes a track stand out there is nothing to solve.

4. You’ve explained several times why you use masks, but you haven’t said why did you choose Venom and not Spiderman. Do you feel identified with the bad guy?

It’s inspired by spider man, but its really The Bloody Beetroots mask, the eye size and technologies are totally unique to my mask. I’m the baddest guy out there.

5. You’ve worked with artists such as Paul McCartney, Tommy Lee, Dennis Lyxzén, Steve Aoki and more. Who else would you like to collaborate with in the future?

I have collaborated with quite a few artists on new album, Paul McCartney was really my dream to work with and now I have!

6. In 2009 we recall the announcement of the first presentation of The Bloody Beetroots in Mexico in the extinct » ZOON NIGHT CLUB » but an outbreak of influenza caused a cancellation. Later, on 2012 Bloody Beetroots were announced in the flyer of «Nevada Fest» and it was canceled days later. Today, finally we see you in flyer of «EDC Mexico» and we are very excited.

Yes, hopefully this time round everything will run smoothly and I should be able to put on a great show for all of my supporters out here in Mexico.

7. What do you expect from Mexican fans? They have been waiting 5 long years for you.
It is definitely a long wait, I expect chaos and confusion, just as they expect it from me.

8. In your video «All the girls» you showed us your love for photography and girls. That’s no secret. Will we soon see a gallery with your photographic work or something else coming from this artistic side?

For sure, I studied at art school and the two subjects which really shaped me are photography and life drawing. My photographic project is called Black Sheep and I will always be exploring that when I can.

9. What will we see or hear this 2014 from The Bloody Beetroots?

On February the 14th I will be releasing the video premiere for my track ‘RAW’ featuring Tommy Lee, it was directed by Agata Alexander. I have also gone back into the LIVE show and changed it, adding and rearranging new tracks and I am starting the SBCR DJ Set.
